Half Full, Always Half Full
Monday, July 28th, 2008I’ve been told that in the Jewish faith, the glass is always half full. Like when something bad happens, they always say to themselves, “Well, it could be worse.” In order to have good things in your life, they must be balanced with a couple of sour things.
Well, Rabbi, I hope you’re right! I busted my back this weekend, can’t really bend over. The upside to my weekend is that I had two fantastic dates (with the same guy). And no, the back situation is in no way related to anything that happened with the guy, get your mind out of the gutter.
My research tells me that I potentially have a slipped disk, which sounds much worse then it is. I don’t know, it sucks, but honestly I’m not uber down about it. I’m going to the sports clinic the Dodgers use, so I’m in good hands.
And if a little back pain is the price one pays for a little happiness, well, I can deal with that.
The Next Mayor of NYC: Anthony Weiner
Friday, July 25th, 2008Okay folks, if you’re in New York City, or know people who live there, keep an eye out for Congressmen Anthony Weiner. He hasn’t announced yet, and I’m not sure he will, but once he does, send him a dollar or two, volunteer, do you’re part for a man who you can trust with the keys to the city.
Full disclosure: I worked for Weiner in 2005 during the Mayoral primary. It was the best, and toughest, job I have ever had.
So why Weiner? First off, get the laugh out now, yes, he has a funny name. Finished? Let’s move on.
When most Americans think of NYC, they don’t think of it’s large middle class. They think of the glamor of Manhattan. But there are four other boroughs, made up of families just trying to provide for themselves in a market that has increasingly been built up against them. As the cost of living has risen in NYC, families have done all they can to keep up. Bloomberg has done a great deal to make NYC a financially stable, and profitable, city. But now that he’s laid the financial foundation for success, it’s time for a man like Weiner to come in to make it liveable.
Weiner understands the middle class, he comes from your typical NYC middle class family. I have met his family, eaten dinner at his father’s house, canvassed with his mother, and I can tell you one thing, Weiner comes from a truly wonderful family that has instilled in him the foundation to understand the needs of the average New Yorker. Hell, I’d vote for him just because his dad made me my first egg cream (it’s a Brooklyn thing).
I support Weiner not only because he’s the only person who has the unique qualities needed at this precious moment in New York City, but also because he taught and showed me what one can expect from their elected officials. I no longer workin politics, but if I ever did, I would only work for Anthony Weiner. He’s the real deal people, seriously.
SO GET INVOLVED! Email friendsofweiner@gmail.com to get more involved. Or just send me an email, I should be able to put you in touch with his office.
I pledge to put all of my financial and volunteer support in 2009 to Weiner, and even if you can’t do that, you can help me do it!
Here I Go Again
Thursday, July 24th, 2008Meryl Streep can do no wrong. It’s the truth people, this woman is amazing. Through out her career she’s suffered a horrible break up, survived the Holocaust, tried to find her way out of Africa, had a dingo eat her baby, lived through a movie with Roseanne, counted the hours, left the Mormon church because of some gay dudes and now is dancing and singing on a remote Greek island!
Mama Mia is the shit. Yes, what makes me legitimitely gay is my love for musical theater, but even so, this movie is so much fun! It was silly, optimistic, energetic and just loads of fun.
On It
Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008So I took a break the past couple of weeks from posting, but I’m back now!
So, the official updates are…
- Bette Midler is the shit! Saw her show in Las Vegas two weekends ago, the bitch still got it. If she told me I would have to cut off my right foot in order to be lifelong friends with her, I’d do it.
- Got three driving violations in less then a week. Surprisingly, I got two parking tickets but somehow didn’t get a ticket after being pulled over for driving in the wrong direction of traffic on a major Los Angeles road. What can I say, I have a quality.
- Went to San Francisco this past weekend to work on AIDS Walk San Francisco. A beautiful city with an amazing event to match it, donate today!
- Saw The Dark Knight last night. Ledger is just as amazing as all the reviews say. But what’s up with Batman’s horse voice? You’d think Bruce Wayne could afford a Halls or something.
Since I’ve sort of had bad luck this past week, I’ve decided that this week is going to be all about doing good things for other people. I’m calling it “In Search of Good Karma: Paying it Forward Week.” Instead of thinking of good things I can do, I’m just going to jump at the chance when I see it arrive.
I hope this works.

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008He Can Govern Me
Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008
I could say that I’m supporting San Francisco’s Mayor, Gavin Newsom, bid for Governor of California because…
~ He took a bold step towards equality by marrying same sex couples.
~ He created a universal healthcare system for San Francisco that covers over 24,000 residents.
~ He’s a populist and part of the “hope” and “change” Barack Obama talks about for the next generation of politicians.
BLAH BLAH BLAH!
But seriously, let’s be honest, look at the man, he’s gorgeous! He’s only 15 years older then me (totally outside the “ewwwww way too old for me” bracket in fuckability), used to be a baseball player (think of the thighs), and totally digs the gays!
I’m sold, where can I get my yard sign?
