Turbulence Made Me Do It

I’m way up in the air flying from New York to Los Angeles.  I love that I can blog from the plane!  2009 is a great year!  First a black president and now blogging from the plane, what’s next?!

I was chatting with my friend Bryan about our problems with air travel.  I hate to fly, can’t stand it!  He hates the process of getting on the plane, going through security, the paperwork, the checks, etc.  Personally I love this part of air travel.  I like the attention of somebody using a wand on me.  It makes me feel special.

But up in the air I’m a nobody!  If this plane goes down, I’m just one with hundreds of other people, nothing special, just passenger in seat 5C.  How lame is that?

Of course taking off and landing are my least favorite parts of the actual trip, but the in air turbulence (as opposed to the on the ground turbulence, whatever that is) is equally as frightening.  What I don’t get is how is everybody else not freaking out?  I look around and everyone, even little kids, are keeping their cool.  Me, I flip out, stop whatever I’m doing, close my eyes, and think, “I’ve lived a good life, I’ve loved!”

I’m supposed to land at 2:30 in Los Angeles.  Please check up on Virgin America flight 409 if you’re as worried as I am.  Or just watch the news this evening.  Katie Couric might say, “Trouble in the air: passenger in seat 5C on Virgin America became so agitated that he ate a small child during in air turbulence.”
